That’s why Bentley Instruments has developed a dedicated range of milk IR calibration sets — carefully designed mid-infrared SRMs (Standard Reference Materials) to optimize the performance and consistency of milk analyzer calibration.

Each calibration set is carefully formulated to include a representative range of fat, protein, and lactose concentrations, making it ideal for routine performance monitoring of infrared milk analyzers. The natural variability across the samples provides a robust foundation for linearity checks and is particularly well suited for instruments relying on MLR-based calibration models, where intercorrection between milk components must be accurately controlled.

Bentley Instruments’ milk IR calibration sets – medium concentration – are composed of 13 raw cow milk samples (60 mL each) covering a typical concentration range of:

• Fat : 2 to 5.45 g/100g
• Protein : 2.1 to 4.1 g/100g
• Lactose : 4.45 to 5.8 g/100g
• Dry matter : 9.7 to 14.6 g/100g

These mid-infrared calibration standards are store at cold positive and contain a stabilizer to preserve sample integrity over time.

Specifically validated for major components analysis in milk, these calibration sets provide optimal control of mid-infrared analyzers such as the DairySpec FT and FTS. They ensure long-term stability, enhanced analytical accuracy, and early detection of instrument drift.

The reference values for each calibration sample are established using the following reference methods:

• Acid-butyrometric method for fat content (ISO 19662 | IDF 238)
• Amido black method for true protein content (NF V 04-216)
• Kjeldahl method for non-protein nitrogen (NPN) (ISO 8968-4 | IDF 20-4)
• Enzymatic method for lactose (ISO 26462 | IDF 214)

Our milk IR calibration sets – medium concentration – are shipped monthly according to a predefined schedule. Each shipment is prepared in isothermal packaging with ice packs to maintain the cold chain and ensure optimal sample preservation. A sealed water bottle is included to monitor temperature stability upon delivery. All shipments are sent via express carrier for rapid and secure transport.
