Each calibration set is specifically formulated to cover elevated concentration ranges, making it particularly suitable for monitoring the performance of infrared milk analyzers used with Jersey cow milk — known for its naturally high levels of fat and protein. By using Bentley’s high-concentration calibration standards, laboratories can ensure accurate, repeatable, and consistent measurements on highly concentrate milk.

Bentley Instruments’ major components calibration sets – high concentration – are composed of 13 raw cow milk samples (60 mL each) covering a typical concentration range of:
- Fat : 6 to 9 g/100g
- Protein : 4.3 to 6.25 g/100g
- Lactose : 4.45 to 5.8 g/100g
- Dry matter : 15.5 to 21.3 g/100g
These mid-infrared calibration standards are store at cold positive and contain a stabilizer to preserve sample integrity over time.
Specifically validated for major components analysis in milk, these calibration sets provide optimal control of mid-infrared analyzers such as the DairySpec FT and FTS. They ensure long-term stability, enhanced analytical accuracy, and early detection of instrument drift.
The reference values for each calibration sample are established using the following reference methods:
- Acid-butyrometric method for fat content (NF V 04-155)
- Amido black method for true protein content (NF V 04-216)
- Kjeldahl method for non-protein nitrogen (NPN) (ISO 8968-4 | IDF 20-4)
- Enzymatic method for lactose (ISO 26462 | IDF 214)
