Optimizing milk analyzer performance with mid-infrared casein calibration sets

Casein concentration in milk is a critical component for the dairy industry, especially in cheese production, where it directly influences yield, texture, and product quality. As with other major milk constituents, mid-infrared spectroscopy (MIR) is the preferred technology for high-throughput and cost-effective casein analysis in routine laboratory and industrial settings.

To ensure the accuracy and standardization of casein measurements across instruments and laboratories, mid-infrared analyzers like the DairySpec FT and FTS require regular calibration with reliable reference samples. That’s why Bentley Instruments has developed a dedicated range of casein calibration sets — carefully designed mid-infrared SRMs (Standard Reference Materials) to optimize the performance and consistency of milk analyzer calibration.

Casein SRMs for consistent and accurate mid-infrared calibration

Bentley Instruments’ casein calibration sets are composed of 12 cow milk samples (40 mL each) covering a typical casein concentration range of 2,5 to 3,5 %. These mid-infrared calibration standards are store at cold positive and contain a stabilizer to preserve sample integrity over time.

Specifically validated for casein analysis in milk, these calibration sets provide optimal control of mid-infrared analyzers such as the DairySpec FT and FTS. They ensure long-term stability, enhanced analytical accuracy, and early detection of instrument drift.

The reference values for each casein calibration sample are established using the Kjeldahl method.

Secure and scheduled shipment of Casein SRMs

Our casein calibration sets are shipped monthly according to a predefined schedule. Each shipment is prepared in isothermal packaging with ice packs to maintain the cold chain and ensure optimal sample preservation. A sealed water bottle is included to monitor temperature stability upon delivery. All shipments are sent via express carrier for rapid and secure transport.
