BactoCount
IBC 3.0
High-throughput multiplex flow cytometry for real-time bacteria & SCC in raw milk – scalable for future applications.
Automated milk bacteria counter workflow for Total Bacteria (IBC) in raw milk
The BactoCount IBC 3.0 milk bacteria counter combines automated sample handling and flow cytometry in a robust 5-module design to deliver consistent Total Bacteria / Total Flora (IBC) results (raw milk total bacterial count) with ultra-low carry-over and full traceability.
-
Industrial control & traceability (PC + diagnostics)
Continuous instrument monitoring with operator alerts, plus database storage of results and raw detector signals for retrospective review and recalculation after calibration.
-
Linear autosampler for routine high-volume testing
Multiple rack formats, no compressed air, single-contact stirring, and intensive pipette washing (inside/out) for typical carry-over ~0.25% (ISO 16140 compliant).
-
Controlled incubation + dual ultrasonics for cleaner signals
44-well incubator at 50°C with automated reagent dispensing; two ultrasonic probes reduce interferences (including somatic cells) to improve sensitivity and signal-to-noise.
-
Enclosed fluid handling for reagent safety and contamination control
Real-time reagent level monitoring and 0.1 µm in-line filtration to protect reagent quality and minimize external contamination risks.
-
Temperature-regulated flow cytometer for stable measurement
Compact closed unit with flow cell, optics, narrow band filter, one or two solid-state lasers, and sensitive photomultipliers for robust fluorescence pulse detection; gated pulses are converted to the official reporting unit via calibration/conversion equation.

Total flora proficiency testing – ISO 17043 (IBC)
Every month, we organize an international proficiency testing program on total bacteria (IBC), ISO 17043 certified and conducted in partnership with Actalia-Cecalait, the French reference laboratory.
This unique program ensures the optimal standardization of your BactoCount milk bacteria counter and guarantees the global equivalence of IBC and CFU results through our universal conversion equation.
The ultimate milk bacteria counter for high-throughput raw milk testing
The BactoCount IBC 3.0 is a fully automated, flow-cytometry milk bacteria counter built for rapid, highly accurate and reliable enumeration of individual bacteria and somatic cells in raw milk – ideal for mid- to large-size laboratories that require speed, standardization, and robust compliance. It delivers real-time Total Bacteria / Total Flora (IBC) with SCC in parallel, enabling fast payment testing, supplier monitoring, and early deviation detection, while preserving CFU/mL continuity via a conversion equation.
Multiplex & scalable platform designed for future applications
BactoCount IBC 3.0 was engineered as a multiplex, adaptable platform to accompany laboratories over the long term. Its configurable optical setup can include up to 2 lasers and up to 4 detectors (fluorescence + scatter), enabling multiplex signal acquisition and supporting multi-application capability as your lab’s needs expand. The software environment supports control, data acquisition, analysis, archiving and reporting, with a user interface that can be adapted depending on deployed applications—reinforcing the “future-proof” positioning for evolving programs and new testing requirements.
